So The Real Challenge Begins!

I tried to keep the motivation at an all time high. Nothing worked. So I put on an exercise tape that I have not used since the 80's. What the (insert F word here) was I thinking? My body is screaming at me and my stomach is so sore. After 4 kids and collapsed stomach muscles, it is not feeling the best. Through the whole horrific ordeal I could hear noises. I stopped several times to try and hear closely to what appeared to be some kind of clapping noise. Each time I began to torture myself through jumping on the spot again, the noise returned. What the? It cannot be? But sure as shit it was my stomach slapping against my upper thighs. I stopped, I did not know whether to laugh or cry. I was in disbelief. Had I honestly believed that I had not let myself get this obese! Well I had and it was a wake up call.

My back is sore, my legs are sore and right at this moment I feel like vodooing Cher's arse! (the video was a Cher fitness tape)

Where have I gone? Where did all that fat come from? Did some alien land and pump someone elses liposuction remnants into my stomach, thighs and butt while I slept soundly? Well thank you!!!! You could have thrown some into the breast area too you know!

I have spent much of the day trying to find me. Avoiding mirrors from the waist down at any cost has obviously been my downfall.

So the mirror has revealed all. Not only have I aged 20 years but I have gained 30 kilos. What a challenge this will be.

I think I need to seek out similar people on this journey to get some tips and tricks, off to blogland we go!

Hi Caz, Daisy here! ok, tips and hints, and remember this helped me lose weight, you may have to adapt it for you; also it only worked while I stuck to it, once I injected choccie treats I screwed it all up!!!
1) Have instant snacks available easily; I cut up fruit and kept it in the fridge, also carrot and celery sticks are great; and (no more than once a day) the odd low fat cream cheese triangle to go with the sticks...
2) Unlike other peoples diets, my downfall was, when I was hungry, I would snack on a couple glasses milk and some choc/cookies, because a meal took too long, or I didn't know what to have... so I took all pressure off myself. Every morning I made a huge salad, with 1 tin tuna, and chopped lettuce, cress, watercress, diced up carrot, babycorn, mange tout, cucumber, tomato, radish, onion, pepper, beetroot, it made a large family size bowl, I also threw in a few walnuts and chopped apple and grapes, and mixed in a tablespoon of low fat mayo. I bought pitta bread pockets. Whenever I needed a meal, I filled a pitta to overflowing with the salad mixture, it made an instant, tasty meal. I could have 4 of those a day. For snacks, I just opened up the bowl and had a few forkfuls, or had a banana! In one week, sticking to this, I lost 6 pounds in the first week, 4 the second, and a steady 3 thereafter...till I cheated!
I only drink water/milk anyway, so soda/alcohol is never an issue for me...Though I do have to limit the milk...
3) Another time, I dieted by having everything I normally have, but HALF my normal portion. That worked till I cheated, too....
4) *sigh* I guess cheating is my problem....
5) Davey, my hubby, was helping me by spanking me at my suggestion, for cheating. Shame, that didn't work, I loved being spanked!!! It was so sexy!!!!
6) I got an exercise chair, which records how much exercise is done on it, and tells how many calories have been burned. I was shocked. Considering how many hours exercise is needed to burn off a VERY small candy bar, I should have been the size of a hippo.... so am thankful to simply be a small buddha....
Wish you well with your efforts. xxxxxxxxxxxxx

BTW, my sister followed that diet where you can have loads of protein and veg, including butter and cheese but no starch/bread cakes/potatoes/fruit.... it worked for her really well; she lost 30 pounds and has never put it back on! She now follows the maintenance plan of the same diet... and swears by it.
She could have bacon, mushrooms, tomatoes, fried in butter, as much as she wanted, for brekkie, then for lunch, any amount of meat, with unlimited veg or salad, (no potatoes or bread though!) and again at night. Made her quite windy though, till her body got used to all the veg!!!! xxx

Hey Daisy!! Thank you so much for all the tips! I will definately give them a go. I do know about the diet that incorporates low or no carbs. My weakness unfortunately is bread! OMG I could eat a loaf and not think twice hahaha. I did try it about a year ago and it did work. Maybe I will try and find a way to incorporate just a little bread in the morning and spend the rest of the day strictly no carb!.
Thanks again for taking the time to come over and leave some well appreciated tip!

I have a very filling recipe that NEEDS bread... hehe! It is mostly made up of very low cal ingredients, so you can afford to have a chunky slice of bread with it, to mop up the juices...

2 breasts of chicken, cut into chunks, chuck in an ovenproof dish. Add root vegetables of your preference; carrots, swede (americans call it rutabaga), onions, parsnips, chopped into good sized chunks. (If I am not dieting, I also add potatoes!)
Make up the liquid in a jug.... 30ml each of worcestershire sauce and lemon juice, 2 tablespoons each of tomato puree and sugar (or use substitute sweetener) and 2 teaspoons (3 if you like more of a kick) of paprika. Add 1 pint (20fluid ounces) boiling water, and stir well till all dissolved. Pour over the veg and chicken. (if necessary, double the liquid ingredients to cover the food in the dish).
The idea of this is that you then cook the casserole all day, till the veg are soft and mushy and have soaked up most of the liquid. (This is not for people who like al dente!
Then serve it hot with a chunk of bread...yummy! And, look at those ingredients...all low in fat and low calorie!
